Our Learning Philosophy

Nature Immersion

We believe that children, especially those between the ages of 2 and 6, learn best through direct experience with the natural world.

Our goal is to tap into their sense of wonder about the natural world by modeling curiosity and gratitude.

We promote individual empowerment and group bonding, as well as creative flexibility & collaboration skills through open-ended play in a forested environment. We model respect for all living beings and demonstrate how to tend to the earth with compassion & heart-listening.

Our lesson plans flow organically from what nature presents us with each day, and our teachers tune into the root needs & desires behind behavior in order for children to feel seen, valued, and energetically nourished.

Our Approach

All Huckleberry programs embrace the Cedarsong Way®, developed by our founder, Erin Kenny.

We provide entirely outdoor education programs that are distinguished by their commitment to nature immersion and flow learning, child- inspired emergent curriculum, inquiry-based teaching style and an emphasis on authentic play, social skills development & emotional awareness.

Our programs are designed to integrate children with nature and engage them in quality outdoor activities which stimulate their innate curiosity about the natural world. Our teaching style encourages children to learn through direct experience with nature, while being guided toward compassion and widened perspectives through Anti-Bias teaching principles.
